Better vision up close
When extreme addition is needed, a magnifying glass can be very useful, but headworn systems have the advantage of leaving both hands free.
Holding closer is an effective way to magnify
A system makes it easier to perform near activities such as needlework or reading. The individual need determines which solutions can be recommended.

When your patient needs extreme addition
ML Aplanat
People with poor vision require high magnification along with a broad field of view. However, achieving this can be challenging as high magnification often leads to distortion at the outer edges of the visual field. The ML Aplanat addresses this issue by splitting the power in two aplanatic lenses, combined in a manner that minimises image distortion, even though the system magnifies up to eight times. ML Aplanat is a monocular lens system with high image quality and a large field of view at short distances.
ML A2
The ML A2 is a monocular optical system for short distance that magnifies up to 13 times. Despite the high magnification, the system is designed to maintain the field of view as much as possible. The user's own correction can be added to the back of the system, which can be mounted in almost any frame. With this system it is also easier to add a cylinder correction.
Similarities and differences between ML Aplanat and ML A2
The ML Aplanat and ML A2 are both aplanatic systems, consisting of a front and a rear lens, but they are designed in slightly different ways.
In ML Aplanat, both lenses have the same diameter, and the correction is placed inside the system. The diameter of the system limits the choice of frames but offers a few degrees wider field of vision.
In ML A2, the rear lens has a smaller diameter which allows the system to be placed in any frame. The smaller diameter also allows for higher powers.
