Selective filters absorb distracting light, but what exactly is that?

That is determined by your customer or patient, as filters block out or reduce the parts of the light that are perceived as distracting. They can be used on healthy eyes or for medical purposes to protect the eyes, improve contrast or enhance comfort.

Different colours filter out different wavelengths of the visible light spectrum. Filters provide protection, contrast or comfort depending on the need. When tinting contact lenses, we offer the ML450 or ML550 filters, which can be tried out using our filter lens trial sets.
